How Auspex is funded

A supporter-funded newsroom. No ads. No trackers. No customer files.

We are structured like a public-interest research institute, not a media startup. Every euro comes from voluntary supporter contributions — paid in cryptocurrency, without invoicing, without KYC. Three principles govern the arrangement.

ISupporter model

You are contributing, not buying.

Auspex Institute is a non-commercial research project. There is no product for sale and no contract of sale — only voluntary supporter contributions that keep the servers, the correspondents and the infrastructure independent. In spirit, closer to Wikipedia and Signal than to a magazine subscription.

IIRadical editorial opacity

Correspondents remain anonymous by design.

Our correspondents work under pseudonyms and localized bylines. This is not aesthetic — it is operational security (OPSEC). It protects field sources, shields analysts from state pressure and retaliation, and preserves the integrity of the data we handle. You get the analysis; the identity of the analyst stays where it belongs.

IIINo tracked data

No invoices means no PII on our servers.

Since we do not invoice, we never store real names, home addresses, tax IDs or bank details on our servers. Your supporter contribution is settled on-chain and forgotten. What remains on our infrastructure is only what you deliberately provide: an email for the newsletter, if you want one; a display name for the letters column, if you write in.
